What is warm lighting?
When choosing LED lighting, you will notice that there are different types of LED lighting. The type of lighting determines the feeling that a particular lamp gives to the space. Think of the difference between lighting in the kitchen and lighting in the living room. When it comes to LED lighting, people usually talk about warm, cold or bright light. These terms refer to the colour temperature of the light. The temperature of the light is measured in Kelvin. The lower the number of Kelvin, the higher the colour temperature and the warmer the lighting. The temperature of warm LED lighting is approximately 3000 K.
How is light colour determined?
The colour temperature not only indicates whether it is warm or cold lighting, but also says everything about the colour that a lamp emits. Thanks to the colour temperature, you know what atmosphere a lamp brings with it and for which room the LED lighting is suitable. For example, LED lighting with 2700K has a beautiful colour that can be compared to candlelight. The amber colour of warm LED lighting with 3000K radiates cosiness. This type of lighting is often used as mood lighting and gives a very warm and comfortable look to the room. Neutral white light with 4000K is more likely to be found in offices, while cold light with 6400K is mainly used in a cool environment, such as a hospital or a laboratory.
Dimming LED lighting for more atmosphere
By dimming LED lighting, you give the interior a beautiful and cosy look by dimming the brightness. This creates a beautiful and soft yellow light that transforms the room into a warm and atmospheric whole. Now, not all LED lighting is dimmable. When purchasing an LED lamp, it is clearly stated on the box whether the lamp is dimmable and which dimmer you can use. Many people assume that conventional dimmers also work on LED lighting. However, this is not the case. LED lamps have a significantly lower wattage than standard lighting. Traditional dimmers often do not achieve this minimum power, causing the lamp to make a buzzing sound or to flicker. We therefore recommend that you always choose a special LED dimmer that matches your type of lighting. Nowadays, it is also possible to dim the light color, this is also called CCT dimming. The color temperature is then dimmed from 6000 Kelvin to 3000 Kelvin, for example.
What is the best choice for atmospheric LED lighting?
When choosing warm LED lighting, you should pay close attention to the light temperature. The lower the K-value, the warmer and cozier the lamp. It is also very nice if you can dim the LED lighting. This way you can always create the right atmosphere and save a lot of energy at the same time. Finally, you should also look at the application. Every room has a different look and requires a different type of LED lighting. For example, LED lighting in a showroom should put certain products in the spotlight, while company halls require a clear light intensity and as little shadow formation as possible. In healthcare institutions, biodynamic lighting is often chosen. Biodynamic LED lighting imitates the effects of daylight, allowing patients to follow their natural daily rhythm at all times.
