Respect – wonen, zorg, welzijn is the first healthcare institution to purchase our biodynamic lighting. That is why we went to The Hague where we spoke with Roland Lameijn; care manager of the Zeewinde and Quintus locations. In this very interesting conversation we discussed, among other things, the result and the collaboration with Firefly.

Respect is an organization that is committed to the elderly, people from the area and people who need help in the sense of care and welfare. Roland: “At the Zeewinde location we have 66 spacious apartments that are divided over seven residential floors. In addition, there are 32 apartments available in Zeewinde for people who are fully indicated for care. These people live in a small-scale and pleasant residential facility where they receive full care.”

Experience is an increasingly important aspect. Respect therefore came up with the idea of ​​using cloud ceilings in the corridors of the Zeewinde location. That is how they ended up at Firefly. We advised them to use biodynamic lighting in combination with the cloud ceilings. Because a pleasant living location naturally also includes a pleasant light experience. Lighting can have a great influence on people's well-being.

Biodynamic LED lighting

Biodynamic lighting imitates natural daylight, which supports the human biorhythm. The lighting changes colour and light intensity, just like the sun does. Roland: “Biodynamic LED lighting gives our residents a sense of recognition and clarity, because it lets them know what time of day it is.” The lighting imitates sunrise in the morning, during the day the light becomes brighter and towards evening the lighting starts to dim. The light helps them wake up in the morning and prepare for sleep in the evening. During the day, the residents are more alert and the light can even give them more energy and improve their mood.

Cloud ceilings

The cloud ceilings we installed not only look nice, but also have a real function. They create a feeling of being outside. “This is very pleasant for the experience of our residents in the apartment complex,” says Roland. This experience care is very valuable for various residents, because it creates a calming atmosphere and improves their mood. The cloud ceilings together with the biodynamic lighting form an excellent combination.

Roland indicates that the residents of the complex respond positively to the new lighting and that visitors are also enthusiastic. Because the lighting is installed in the central corridor, everyone can actually see it. He himself is also very happy with the new lighting. He is also very pleased with the sharpness of the photos on the panels. “I am very happy and satisfied with the end result. In general, you see somewhat more somber panels. Our panels are very present and that makes the result so beautiful,” Ronald concludes.
