Working with good quality light is important for people to function well. In certain work environments, light is even important for carrying out your work safely.
It is a well-known fact that our human brain becomes more productive, feels more cheerful and can concentrate better when we are surrounded by good quality light. But what is sufficient light?
Fortunately, we don't have to guess. Guidelines have already been drawn up and laid down in the European standard NEN-EN 12464-1:2011. This standard takes into account various lighting requirements that depend on the work performed. Below we will take you through this standard using various applications.
| Office buildings | Lux |
| General space | 300 |
| Workplace | 500 |
| Hallway | 100 |
| Reception | 300 |
| Archive | 200 |
| Canteen | 200 |
| Company hall/industry | Lux |
| Storage and stock | 100 |
| Forwarding and packing area | 300 |

These standards are in principle intended as minimum amounts of light for the applications. It is important to keep in mind which places within your company require extra light.
