For example, fluorescent tubes are making way for LED tubes on a large scale. But how exactly does this replacement work, what should you take into account and what about safety and warranty? We will explain it to you!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Can an LED tube be placed in a fluorescent fixture?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are two types of LED tubes. For convenience, we call them <em>type A<\/em> and <em>type B<\/em>. Type A can be placed in a fixture with an electronic ballast without any changes. Type B is supplied with a so-called &#8216;dummy starter&#8217; with which the LED tube can be placed in a fixture with an electronic ballast (VSA). It is therefore important that you know which type of LED tube you are using if you want to replace a fluorescent tube with an LED tube.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What should you pay attention to (LED)? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Although it is possible to replace a fluorescent tube with an LED tube, we certainly do not recommend it. Why? If the ballast remains in the fluorescent fixture, there will remain voltage on it. This voltage causes light loss, creates heat and therefore extra energy costs. In addition, the ballast is maintenance-sensitive and will also break down over time, causing the LED tubes to no longer burn. Let that be exactly what you do not want.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, you can remove the ballast from the fixture and when you do this you will immediately save energy. But, beware: for fluorescent fixtures from which the ballast has been removed, the CE marking will expire. The quality mark with which a product complies with the regulations for this product within the European Economic Area. If you have removed the VSA, you will have to have the fixture in question inspected again.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Warranty and insurance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You can imagine that the <strong>warranty<\/strong> will expire if adjustments have been made to the original product. After all, the CE marking has also expired and the product must be inspected, tested and certified again by a recognized organization such as DEKRA. The manufacturer of the fixture will then no longer allow claims and no support will be provided. If you do use modified fluorescent fixtures with LED tubes in them and (fire) damage occurs, insurance will not reimburse the costs!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Light output and savings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Fluorescent fixtures are specially developed for the housing of fluorescent tubes. Fluorescent tubes have a beam of 360 degrees, while LED tubes have a beam of 160 degrees. A fluorescent tube is simply a completely different product than an LED tube and if it is replaced by an LED tube, the light output will also change. Various studies have been done on this and the light output can decrease by up to 25%. This will give the entire room a completely different look. Of course, it is true that a lower light output also means lower energy costs. However, you will never achieve the full possible savings without using special, approved LED fixtures.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Safe and sustainable switch to LED lighting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is and remains your own choice to replace your fluorescent lighting with LED lighting yourself. However, it is important that you know what you are doing and that you can only achieve the full savings by using completely new LED fixtures. We advise anyone who wants to switch to LED lighting to have this done by a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/firefly.online\/bedrijfsverlichting\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/firefly.online\/over-ons\/\">professional organization<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.
